Clickwheel is an open-source library that developers can use to build applications that read and modify the database used on iPod. This allows users to manage their music without using software like iTunes.
Clickwheel currently works with a variety of iPod models, but you can help improve compatibility by donating your iPod's database to the Clickwheel project. This allows the developers of Clickwheel to ensure that Clickwheel can read and modify the database on your iPod correctly.
This website allows you to upload your iPod's database to share with the developers of Clickwheel. It does not upload your music; only the files within the iPod_Control folder, which is where the primary database is stored. If present, it will also upload the database from the Photos folder to help the Clickwheel project add support for managing photos on iPod.
The first step to donating your iPod's database is to setup your iPod for use with Clickwheel. This is a required step so that Clickwheel can calculate the correct database hash for your specific iPod. This is done by storing the Firewire ID of your iPod in a file named "SysInfoExtended", which is then used by Clickwheel whenever the Firewire ID is needed.
Windows users can use Clickwheel Device Helper to generate the SysInfoExtended file for all iPods connected to your computer. Download the executable, run it, and follow the instructions.
After creating the SysInfoExtended file, you're now ready to upload your iPod's database. Click the button below to select the root folder of your iPod.
